The general stream is at Ballarat Health Services is designed for applicants who have not yet committed to or who are not yet eligible to apply for a career pathway in the other streams offered at Ballarat Health Services. This may include applicants who are eligible for provisional registration and are still pursuing their general registration. Applicants will be rotated through the following specialities to enable general registration: General Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency and Relief.

Please note: Applicants who already have their general registration are encouraged to apply for one of the specialty streams at Ballarat Health including: Surgical Stream, Medical Stream, GP O&G Stream or Critical Care Stream. This position is designed for applicants who have not yet committed to or who are not yet eligible to apply for a career pathway in the other streams offered at Ballarat Health Services.

All units offer orientation and regular training activities including:
– Case Presentations
– Journal Club
– Morbidity and Mortality Meetings
– Grand Rounds
– e-Learning

Ballarat Health Services comprises of the Base Hospital (221 beds), Queen Elizabeth Centre (sub-acute care – 70 beds) and Psychiatric Services (67 beds). Ballarat Health Services is a major training site for the University of Melbourne and Deakin Rural Clinical Schools. Senior staff are strongly committed to teaching and the professional development of Interns, HMOs and Registrars.
