Ballarat Health Services is currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses (Division 1) or Registered Midwives to join our team as Associate Nurse Unit Managers, and work in the Special Care Nursery.

The Special Care Nursery at BHS is a 10 cot, Level 4 unit that is co-located on the 5th floor with the inpatient maternity unit and birthing suites servicing the broader Grampians region.

As a successful applicant it is desirable that you will have extensive neonatal clinical experience, appropriate qualifications and strive for patient centred care and must be able to work a rotating roster across all shifts.  It is desirable that you will possess or be working towards completion of a Managerial Qualification.

You will be able to work collaboratively and consultatively as part of a multidisciplinary team, have demonstrated leadership ability and have a clear understanding of the managerial responsibilities of an Associate Nurse Unit Manager.

Working within a multidisciplinary team you will be expected to facilitate and foster best practise and service delivery to our clients and their families within the Special Care Nursery and the whole of Womens and Childrens Services.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • Minimum of 5 years Nursing experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent neonatal experience.
  • Managerial qualifications and recent experience preferred.

  • Delegating Responsibility: Allocating decision-making authority and/or task responsibility to appropriate others to maximize the organization’s and individuals’ effectiveness.
  • Care Management: Having the knowledge and skills to secure relevant patient care data and identify key issues and relationships in the management of patient care; understanding the relationships among assessments, interventions, and patient responses; skilled in documentation of assessments and adjusting physical and cognitive prescriptions as needed.
