Ballarat Health Services is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as Theatre Technician in the Day Procedure and Endoscopy Unit. Previous employment in a Health Care Industry is essential. Prior employment as a Theatre Technician is desired but not essential, as training will be provided. Individuals currently holding, or working towards a ‘Certificate III in Health Services Assistance’ (Operating Theatre Technical Support), will be highly regarded.

Working within a multidisciplinary team you will be expected to facilitate and foster best practise and service delivery to patients within the Day Procedure and Endoscopy Unit.
The successful applicant must be flexible and able to work 9.5 hour and 5 hour shifts between Monday – Friday, with the ability to replace annual leave/sick leave deficits as required.
An outline of the roles/responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Assisting with the correct, safe and dignified positioning of the patient for Endoscopy procedures in accordance with relevant policies and procedures
Preparing and maintaining relevant equipment within the Endoscopy suite.
Maintaining awareness and current knowledge of the function of equipment used throughout the organisation, reporting malfunction/maintenance issues to the appropriate person
Ensuring safe handling of all specialty equipment
Undertaking transport, cleaning and porting duties as directed
Undertaking transport and disposal of soiled linen and consumables
Assisting with ordering stores and maintaining the storeroom
Decontamination and reprocessing of Endoscopes
Providing assistance and education to staff and students in relation to the Theatre Technician role and Endoscope reprocessing.
